I covered another day of activities for the Outward Bound Trust over in Eskdale. The weather didn’t make for spectacular scenery kind of day. Or any scenery at all for much of the mountain walk, but on the way back down I was able to intercept another group of Outward Bound adventurers who had gone on a scramble up Nether Beck.
I’ve wanted to get some shots of the gorge scrambling for ages. This isn’t the kind of thing that you shoot from the bank. There is no bank. Taking a pack full of cameras and lenses into a steep-sided, moss-covered gorge full of very fast flowing water has a bunch of safety implications (both for me and the equipment). Using a careful balanced mix of luck and judgement I found this group at pretty much exactly the right time and place. I did get very wet, some of my gear got just a bit damp, but everything survived intact.
